Till Every Throne Be Cast Down

They looked upon us with disdain,

giants within their walls.

We built no Trojan horse

to invade that great city.

We blew the trumpets.

Then came the shout,

and Jericho’s ancient walls fell before us.

The Lord is on our side,

mighty kings fall upon their swords.

Great warriors are brought to their knees.

Fortressed cities burn,

and the archers flee.

Where are the gods

whose statues adorn their holy places?

From the horizon,

blazing citadels light up the night sky.

Our armies bear no swords,

We outrun their chariots and horses.

Our armor is neither brass nor iron.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal,

but heavenly,

forged by the hands

of the Mighty One of Israel.

Achilles lies slain.

Their champion lies fallen.

His heel was guarded,

yet every defense was powerless.

Assyria shrinks in fear.

The men of war are nowhere to be found.

Babylon the Great

flees to the mountains.

The Medes and the Persians,

they yield and they scatter.

Greece, where wisdom made its throne,

its glory now lies in ruins.

Rome, who held us captive,

bows before the Captain of His army.

Shout for joy, O Jerusalem!

By the cross, He crushed the mighty.

From Hades, He conquered.

In His presence,

great warriors are brought to their knees.

The nations shudder at His mercy.

The Lord is on our side.

We slay their armored men.

The Lord is on our side.

From the highest peaks of Zion,

He fights our battles.

Our fallen rise again

unto a glorious awakening.

We march on unto victory,

until our King shall be Lord of all,

until the kingdom of the world

becomes the kingdom

of our Lord and of His Christ.

Oh, look how the mighty have fallen!

Men whose strength

is sharpened swords and fiery bows,

whose defenses are guarded by spearmen

tempered for battle.

They know not who holds the true power.

They measure their might by the treasures of their armories.

They cry out for their gods to awaken,

To Zeus.

To Poseidon.

To Apollo.

To Ares.

They have made gods

of what their hands can wield.

And when the works of their hands fail them,

who will they call upon?

We march on to victory.

Indeed, the Lord is on our side.

We march on to victory.

The frenzied chants of Baal’s prophets are heard no more.

We march on to victory.

Our banners stretch across the heavens.

We march on to victory.

Myriads upon myriads march alongside our King.

Magnificent and glorious,

riding upon His majestic steed.

Kings bow before Him.

Nations gather in worship.

Sound the alarm!

The One who is on our side,

He is True.
